Passionate about the English language and British and Irish film, Fanny wears two hats seamlessly as a festival programmer and film translator. The sidekick of the artistic director the Dinard British Film Festival (for 15 editions, 2005 to 2019), it was there, in her adopted home of Brittany, that she honed her skill in programming shorts and features and hosting movie talent from across the Channel and beyond. What she loves the most about the job is devising film selections that capture the full palette of British filmmaking and above all, to create opportunities for exchange between professionals and the public, which fully aligns with the ethos of This is England over the last 10 years. Whether shorts, features, fiction, documentary, animation or just plain experimental, she is interested in British and Irish films because they tell us something about our world through the eyes of ordinary people. When she's not curating or consulting for festivals, Fanny spends her time subtitling films, from English to French, bien entendu.
