The controversies surrounding press and political cartoons seem to get more numerous and more virulent every year - if not deadly. Where cartoons offer widely accepted visual jokes, political cartoons offer a strong point of view that contributes to democratic debate. Its place in the press is historically anchored. This genuine culture of criticism has its own production and distribution networks, its own aesthetics and its own audiences. During this round table, our four guests will question this chain of complementary actors in public: what place do they have in France and the United Kingdom? Do they still contribute to the vitality of democracy and under what conditions - if any?
