About the festival
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
This is England holds an annual short film festival dedicated to British cinema.
The festival offers a selection of short films of all genres, showcasing the works of emerging filmmakers as well as those of more renowned auteurs. In order to accomplish its main goal which is to help and support young artists in their creative work, This is England asks a jury of filmmakers and/or actors to reward the best shorts among a single competitive selection of fictions, animated films and documentaries.
In addition to screenings and talks with an ever growing audience, the festival boasts special Q&As between filmmakers in attendance and the public. Created in 2012 by the Rouen-Norwich Club, This is England is proud to build on the strong relationship between Normandy and the United Kingdom with an important event for cinema lovers. Since its first edition, the festival has screened nearly 700 films, invited their directors, producers, cast and crew to attend and meet the audience and has offered over 30 000€ to awardees. The ever-growing audience reached a new high during the last edition with nearly 23 000 spectators attending.
